There are many holidays in our country, the 8th of March is one of them. It is a happy and nice holiday. It is a good tradition in our country to give presents and flowers to women on this day. Each family celebrates this spring holiday. In the morning men go to the shops or markets to buy some flowers. They try to clean flats and help women to cook a holiday dinner.

Sons and daughters help their mothers too: they make a cake, lay the table and wash dishes after holiday dinner. All the members of the families try to be well dressed on this day.

Some families celebrate the 8th of March going to the theatres and concerts. They buy tickets beforehand. Others prefer to invite guests and stay at home.

There is almost the same holiday in England. It is called Mothers" Day and celebrated also in spring. Sons and daughters come and give gifts to their mothers on this day. If it is not possible to see a mother, one can send presents and cards to her. Flowers and cakes are the traditional gifts for all mothers in England. All women try to be nice and happy on this day.

Есть много праздников в нашей стране, 8-ое марта один из них. Это - счастливый и хороший праздник. Дарить подарки и цветы женщинам в этот день - хорошая традиция в нашей стране. Каждая семья празднует этот праздник весны. Утром мужчины идут в магазины или на рынки чтобы купить цветы. Они пытаются убрать квартиры и помогают женщинам приготовить праздничный обед.

Сыновья и дочери также помогают своим матерям: они пекут пирог, накрывают на стол и моют посуду после праздничного обеда. Все члены семьи пытаются быть хорошо одетыми в этот день.

Некоторые семьи идут в театр или на концерт. Они покупают билеты заранее. Другие предпочитают приглашать гостей и оставаться дома.

Есть почти такой же праздник в Англии. Это называют День матери и он празднуется также весной. Сыновья и дочери приезжают и делают подарки своим матерям в этот день. Если нет возможности повидать маму, можно послать ей подарки и открытки. Цветы и пироги - традиционные подарки для всех матерей Англии. Все женщины пытаются быть красивыми и счастливыми в этот день.

The last month of winter has finished, so spring comes to us. As you know spring is light holiday when nature is awaking from winter sleep, when birds come back from the South, when everything begin to bloom and of course we have a lot of wonderful holidays in spring and the most important, not ordinary day among them is Mother’s Day, the day of our beloved Mothers.

Mother…This charming word is connected with the beginning of the life. It is the dearest word for every people. So it’s so pleasant to speak about you in such lovely day.

Spring : Do you know the legend about daffodil? I’d like to retell it. (Legend about daffodil)

Many centuries ago there was a young boy, whose name was Narcissus. He was the son of the River God Keffis and lovely Nymphs. He was so beautiful that his beauty can compare with the beauty of Goddess Veneer. A lot of girls fall in love with him. But he didn’t answer them to this feeling. Echo loved him also very dearly, but he didn’t notice her. She suffered from such love and soon she was died, leaving her beautiful voice after her death.

Time came, but Narcissus heart staying lonely and empty. Nemesida decided to punish him. She predicted him a great love but without any reciprocity.

Once in a hot summer day he bent near the cold and clean stream he wanted to drink water, but suddenly he saw the reflection of himself in the mirror of the water. He was shocked, charmed and fall in love. He couldn’t sleep, eat. He could only enjoy the beauty of his own reflection, but his love was without any reciprocity. From this great sadness he died. And in this place where his soul left his body, a lovely but beautiful flower appeared. It was called Narcissus or Daffodil.

Some days ago on the 8 th of March, Russian people and a lot of people in many countries celebrated Women´s Day. So our lesson is dedicated to this holiday. Now some words about history of this holiday.

Несколько дней назад все люди мира отмечали этот праздник, поэтому наш урок посвящен одному из самых любимых праздников – женскому дню. Наверное, немногие из нас знают историю праздника, который мы ежегодно отмечаем 8 марта. Почему Международный женский день празднуется именно 8 марта? Оказывается, особых причин для этого нет.

Начиналось все так…

Уже в древнем Риме существовал женский день, который отмечали женщины, состоящие в браке, в этот день они получали от своих мужей подарки.

Прошло немало времени. Женщины решили бороться за равноправие с мужчинами.

В начале весны 1857 года текстильщицы Нью-Йорка прошли "маршем пустых кастрюль" по Манхэттену. Это событие назвали Женским днем…

Прошло более 50-ти лет и тысячи женщин, вновь вышли на улицы Нью-Йорка.

В 1909 на международной конференции в Копенгагене Клара Цеткин – известный борец за права женщин, предложила женщинам во всем мире выбрать определенный день, когда они будут привлекать общественное внимание к своим требованиям.

Однако точная дата этого дня на конференции так и не была определена. Впервые Международный Женский День был проведен 19 марта 1911 года в ряде европейских стран.

С 1914 года этот день стихийно стали отмечать почему-то 8 марта. В России этот праздник отмечают с 1913 года, но так как наша страна жила тогда по юлианскому календарю, то Международный Женский День пришелся на 23 февраля. В СССР 8 марта долгое время был обычным рабочим днем, но в канун 20-летия Победы в Великой отечественной войне, 8 марта было объявлено в СССР праздничным днём.

С 2002 года 8 марта является "нерабочим праздничным днем" наряду с другими государственными праздниками.

Многие сомневаются, что этот праздник действительно «международный». Однако ещё в 1977 году ООН приняла резолюцию, призвав все страны провозгласить 8 марта днем борьбы за женские права – «Международным женским днем».
